We live in a world where 70% of all peoples either cannot read or do not care to read. From preliterates to post-literates, from Western to non-western, we will explore the role of music and the arts in the life of the Church at worship and in witness. How do we move from assuming that the arts are univerally understood to a perspective of recognizing and embracing peoples’ cultural art forms and their significance for communicating the Gospel in profound ways? How do we train our students to effectively integrate these perspectives and forms into their mission philosophies and praxis?
