ASM encouragement for members to sign the declaration "Church at the Crossroads: Our response to the public calls of Palestinian Christians"
The Board of the American Society of Missiology joins the church in Palestine and its allies around the world in grieving the ongoing human rights violations of the Palestinian people who are enduring the destruction of their homes, displacement, harassment, and the maiming and death of their loved ones. We believe that as a professional society dedicated to the study of missiology and the promotion of God’s mission in the world, it is imperative that we add our voice to the Church at the Crossroads “Declaration” as our way to also respond to the public calls for action by Palestinian and Middle East Christian leaders and theologians. Though the ASM Board acknowledges differences in perspective regarding the current situation, it nonetheless feels compelled to stand in solidarity with Palestinians who are suffering a great injustice.
We invite our constituents to prayerfully read the statement, “Church at the Crossroads: Our Response to the Public Calls of Palestinian Christians,” reflect upon it, and if so led, add your signature to it. We choose to do this instead of crafting our own statement out of the conviction that this statement rightly affirms the missiological commitments that we share.
